The Spindle Summer Labs is the route to The Spindle Innovation Awards for Best Idea: an intense, inspirational and joyful summer, in which you develop your idea into a prototype.

You learn best when you have fun, are connected and relaxed. This is the philosophy behind The Spindle Summer Labs. In the informal environment of the Spring House, you and your team engage in a program full of insights, fun and challenging activities.

How does it work?
Apply before May 31st! By subscribing your idea for The Spindle Innovation Awards for Best Idea, you are automatically eligible for The Spindle Summer Labs. Out of all applications, ten ideas will be selected to continue the trajectory. When selected, you have to team up with someone that supports or joins you throughout The Spindle Summer Labs and is able to replace you if you are not available for one of the workshops. After five Fridays of workshops and courses in June, July and August, a jury will select three nominees to pitch at the Partos Innovation Festival in October – out of which one will win the award for ‘Best Idea 2017’!

Next to that, the winner receives 5000 euro of seed money, a grant writer for a day and exposure to a big network of development organisations.

About the program
The participants of the selected teams actively engage in Design Thinking as a process for problem-solving. With its main ingredients: creativity, ambidextrous thinking, teamwork, user-centeredness (empathy), curiosity and optimism. Besides sharing innovation insights and knowledge, the experienced Spring House team of facilitators ensure that creative support and coaching is provided when needed. Every part of the program will be customised to the need of the selected teams. The Spindle Summer Labs conclude with an event where you will present your completed prototype.

What you bring
You will represent your idea with a team of 2-4 persons and commit yourself to be present during the labs and – when selected – to pitch at the Innovation Festival. Please read more on the criteria for selection.
