On August 25th The Spindle organised a kick-off meeting for an Inspiration Council. The Inspiration Council consists of a diverse group of innovation-minded people that inspire both The Spindle Team and the fellow innovators. Besides inspiring, they keep The Spindle sharp, reflect on its work and bring their expertise on trends and innovation from elsewhere.
The meeting kicked off with a toast to celebrate the formation of The Spindle and the gathering of our Inspiration Council members. After a short introduction all members were asked to share their ideas on trends and development. This led to a wall full of post-its and a bunch of trends that boosted a lively discussion:
“Did you know some researchers claim that most people in the world have the same amount of relations compared to years ago? Do we consider globalization as still a thing? Or have you ever heard of CRISPR genome editing? It might bring genetic engineering to your kitchen bench sooner than you expect it. And will it mean the end of incurable diseases and death in the future?”
After the session about trends, the members dived into their dreams. How do we see the future and what are our hopes for the world in 2075?
I’m dreaming of a world beyond growth, capitalism and consumentism; let us find a more sustainable paradigm in which we focus on value instead of money.
The council also discussed what kind of values are needed to keep moving towards these dreams; optimism, collaboration, openness, transparency, solidarity, empathy, modesty, authenticity and logic were just a few of them.
Partos Executive Director Bart Romijn closed the meeting with emphasizing the dreams of The Spindle:
“The Spindle wants to connect and empower innovators and aims to create an ecosystem that thrives innovation. We want to harness the innovation potential that is present in the sector and stimulate innovators to mix together to innovate. We hope The Spindle becomes the breeding ground for social change towards an inclusive and sustainable world.”
