The final Spindle Summer Lab has been a success
The last Spindle Summer Lab is a wrap! Six teams gathered to pitch their innovative ideas before a six-person jury. The day started with an informal meeting between the teams and the facilitators. They shared the latest progress of their innovations, practiced the 3-minute pitches and provided feedback to each other before the jury arrived.
In the afternoon, the teams pitched their ideas in front of the jury. After every pitch, the jury had 10 minutes to ask questions and share their comments. Having listened to six well-prepared, interesting and enthusiastic pitches, the jury withdrew and the teams had some time to relax and reflect on their experiences with the Spindle Summer Labs so far.
After an exciting 30 minutes, the jury decided and presented the 3 teams that are still in the race for The Best Idea Award on October 11th at the Partos Innovation Festival in Amsterdam. The three winning ideas are Land Rights Unchained!, Protection Power, and Upinion. Well done, and congratulations for making it to the final!

Looking back at the Summer Labs
It has been an intense, inspirational and awesome summer, in which nine teams developed their idea. Design agencies STBY and AndThePeople supported the teams each Lab and teams were able to make use of The Spindle’s network.
We aimed to create a space in which creativity is triggered and boosted the setup of a new plan, project, business model, policy, product or service in the world of international development. We did so, following our philosophy: ”You learn best when you have fun, are connected and passionate about the idea you’re working on”.
As this long, hot summer has come to an end (and autumn is kicking in), The Spindle Summer Labs have ended as well. The past few weeks, the Summer Labs have accelerated nine innovative ideas that contribute to an inclusive, just and sustainable world. The three teams nominated by the jury will pitch their idea again at the Partos Innovation Festival, where the winner will be announced the same day.
