Join us on December 10 for yet another informative inspiring meeting of our Community of Practice on Innovative Finance for Development. To follow up on a wish expressed by a number of organisations and interested parties, in 2019 The Spindle is organising a series of sessions on how different organisations are working with innovative ways of financing development. Each session will touch upon on one or two innovative financing instruments that are currently being explored, experimented with or implemented. The main goal of these meetings is to exchange on the topic and discuss experiences, success stories, pitfalls and recommendations regarding each financing instrument.

Various experts will shine their light on social impact investment. Impact investing is increasingly seen as an effective tool for development. Many NGOs are considering to adopt impact investing as an additional financing mechanism in their intervention strategies. Does this actually make sense? Mark Joenje, managing partner of C4D Partners , starts off by sharing his and ICCO Cooperation’s journey on ‘Impact investing in the context of an NGO’.

After, Hann Verheijen will speak about Cordaid Investment Management which invests to overcome fragility. They invest in decent job creation, sustainable economic development, and building resilient communities by deploying growth capital to Micro Finance Institutions and Small and Medium-sized Enterprises in the most underserved fragile and emerging economies. Cordaid Investment Management aims to be a catalyst for system change, opening up markets in which organisations otherwise wouldn’t have access to finance.

After the presentations, we will dive into an interactive conversation about these topics. We’ll close this meet-up with drinks to exchange ideas and experiences!
