In 2019, The Spindle and the Hague Humanity Hub collaborate in organising a series of (almost) monthly inspirational working sessions for our mutual communities! This will be the second in a row of three Future Sessions dedicated to exploring the future of cities and the significance of urban trends for development and development cooperation. The sessions are high in energy and always involve an expert. See what’s going on and get more grip on the implications and ideas that would work!

Future Session #7: How the circular economy can generate opportunities for developing cities
The Netherlands is leading the way on the transition to a circular economy that is regenerative and waste-free by design. But how can this emerging economic system address the challenges facing fast-growing cities in the developing world? Join Tamara Streefland, Cities Lead at Amsterdam-based consultancy and thinktank Metabolic, for a workshop exploring how the latest circular city methodologies could apply in a developing world context.

Attend a rundown on Metabolic’s systems-thinking approach to working with cities, and participate in an intervention game to devise potential circular solutions for a rapidly-expanding developing city. What opportunities can a circular approach deliver for urban centres in the developing world? What are the main barriers in the way of a transition? What key leverage points can we target to overcome these barriers? Register below to tackle these questions and more.
