What problem are you trying to solve?
Humanitarian needs are rising year by year while resources are limited. It is, therefore, an absolute no brainer that we have to be smarter & more efficient in our aid responses. Innovation is seen as a golden bullet, a bandwagon to jump onto. However how much innovation qualifies as truly answering the problems? Does humanitarian innovation not very often equal an experiment? How often has something been re-invented?
For a donor, it is a challenge to make sure that money is wisely spent. However how to know one is investing in the right solution? Donors cannot be expected to be a domain expert in everything. Humanitarians are often challenged for not being innovative enough, but how to know what is the best solution or innovation? When and where to raise a problem that needs to be addressed? How to talk to other users of innovation if you do not know who is using what where? Finally, for entrepreneurs: doing good and making money. However how to connect to humanitarians globally?
What is your solution to this problem?
AidInnov is a forthcoming online platform, enabling partnerships to be taken to the next level, and actively breaks with the silofication of innovation in the humanitarian sector. Top this up with a smart lookup and search functionality as if it is a Marketspace and allow others to provide feedback and raise questions on the solutions, like others do with Tripadvisor regarding locations. AidInnov is no rocket science, a simple straightforward answer for true collaborations and partnerships, for responsible innovation in the humanitarian sector. AidInnov will be the one-stop go to place for any solution/tool/innovation/
What is your latest update on your innovation?
AidInnov has gone through an iteration process based on lessons learned of the MVP (at that time was AidInnov known as AidMetrics) as well as new test cases and new partnerships. In design sessions the work flow has been finalized which has been handed over to several IT development agencies. A partnership with one company to build has grown and several working domain partnerships have been established. AidInnov is currently busy to secure the seed money to go live by the end of 2018.
