What problem are you trying to solve?
Illiteracy. 1 billion people in the world are illiterate. 250 million children do not have access to school materials to learn how to write. This is because school materials are not endless reusable. You need to buy notebooks over and over again and there is simply no money for that on many places in the world. We developed a reusable notebook, so writing become durable and accessible for everyone!
What is your solution to this problem?
We sell our long-lasting writing materials in developed countries and, thereafter, we donate our materials to preliminary schools in developing countries. We are also offering our products for low prices against all development help, so they can invest in long-lasting school materials, so that every child have enough school materials to learn how to write. Another part of our battle is creating awareness. We are dealing with one of the most underestimated problems in the world. We have to convice other parties, as development aid, to pro-actively battle this problem.
Why are you going to win The Spindle Award for Best Innovation?
We create impact on different layers. First of all, we can save a lot of trees by implementing durable writing materials in Europe. Second and most important to us, we are dealing with, maybe, the most underestimated problem in the world: illiteracy. We have to bundle our forces to create a massive impact.
